Why does it have to be so hard?

How many of you have ever thought this when a relationship gets hard?

I GET IT!

Why bother with love and relationships?

According to the latest research, putting in effort pays off. You may not see the benefits right away, but over time your patience and perseverance will be rewarded.

Relationships can provide us with emotional support and companionship, and even help us grow as individuals if we put in the effort to make them work. The rewards are worth it.

Research shows that having meaningful and loving relationships can bring many positive benefits to your life.

The benefits of great relationships are increases in:

  • Resilience
  • Wealth
  • Recovery from illness
  • Health, or well-being

People who are surrounded by support and care tend to be both physically and mentally healthier than those without. Additionally, feeling connected to others may lead to greater satisfaction in life as well as more contentment.

Finally, research indicates that those who have strong relationships live longer, more meaningful lives compared to those who do not.

A key to creating more connection, intimacy, and trust in a relationship is to GIVE.

Here are three ways to increase love in your relationship by giving your patience, compassion, and attention.

Watch on YouTube:

1. Patience

One of the most important things you can do for any relationship is practice patience. This means understanding that people may not always act as you would like them to or as quickly as you’d like them to. It also means being patient with yourself because relationships can be hard work! Being patient is a sign of respect and understanding, both of which are essential components in any successful relationship.

2. Compassion

Another way to increase love in a relationship is through compassion. Compassion is the ability to feel empathy toward another person and understand their feelings without having experienced them firsthand.

Showing compassion helps create deeper connections between people and encourages communication, understanding, and trust. Compassion also allows us to see things from another person’s perspective and helps us be more understanding of each other’s flaws or mistakes.

“Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries.
Without them, humanity cannot survive.”

~Dalai Lama

3. Attention

Finally, giving your attention and presence is another great way to increase love in your relationship. We all want to feel seen and heard by our partners—so try taking some time out of your day for just that purpose! Spend quality time together doing something fun, like going for a walk or playing a game; talk about how your day went; ask questions about your partner’s day; share stories about things that made you laugh—anything!

One of the bedtime rituals I had with my kids is I’d ask them what was the worst part of their day,

then what was the best part. It was a time to really be present and just listen to my kids.

The Gottman Love Lab uses the term “bid” as a signal that your partner is looking for connection. Over time, how couples respond to these “bids” for connection can make or break a marriage or relationship.

In addition, spending quality time together will allow both parties to connect on an emotional level and express how much they care for one another—something that cannot be done through text messages or emails alone! Showing genuine interest in your partner will go a long way toward strengthening your bond and increasing the love between you both.

Love isn’t always easy; it takes hard work, dedication, and commitment from both parties involved for it to grow over time. Fortunately, there are several ways that we can increase love in our relationships—patience, compassion, and attention being three of the most important ones! By taking the time to show these qualities toward our partners, we can help ensure that our relationships remain strong for years to come. So take some time today—just five minutes out of your day—to show your partner how much they mean to you! You won’t regret it.
